This week is National Literacy and Numeracy Week, so we celebrated with a whole-school activity which involved our favourite books. All of the students from prep to year 12 (about 240 in total) were split into small groups of no more than ten, with a teacher supervising shared reading. It was delightful to see Year 10, 11 and 12 students listening patiently while prep, grade 1 and 2 students read their favourite stories. “Where’s Wally?”, the “Mr Men” series and Dr Suess were very popular choices, as were picture books with animals and car, motorcycle and truck magazines!
Following shared reading each student recieved a fresh baked chocolate-chip, banana or blueberry muffin.
